Every year Windsor’s Harpoon Brewery hosts one of New England’s largest fall festivals- Octoberfest! This fall festival is designed after the German “Oktoberfest,” and includes festival events like Keg Bowling, Chicken Dance contests, and a German cake eating contest. Of course, the featured event is the sampling of fresh Harpoon beer!
The annual festival gathers thousands of locals and tourists during the second weekend in October when the celebration takes off. When you hear the live performance of German Oompa bands, you’ll know it’s time to live by the Harpoon motto “Love Beer. Love Life.”
Vermont’s Harpoon Brewery features a wide selection of fresh Harpoon beer including IPA and UFO Hefeweizen. Stroll the Bavarian style “Beer Garden” and choose from their wide selection of beers. Sunday features a Road Race that starts and ends at the Octoberfest location. Last year runners dressed up to the German theme and ran over three miles to raise $7,200 for the Norris Cotton Cancer Center. Another favorite festival event is the free brewery tour, given by the Harpoon brewers all weekend long.
Festival tickets for Windsor Vermont’s Harpoon Octoberfest are $10.00 per person, which also includes a Harpoon beer or Harpoon soda. Cash bars offer a selection of fresh Harpoon and UFO beers for $4.25 a pint; you must be 21 or older and have proper I.D. Octoberfest is a rain or shine event, so bring your drinking game and get ready to enjoy the fall foliage at the Harpoon Brewery Vermont festival.
