Scenic Autumn Drive on The Blue Ridge Parkway 

Fall is the most popular time of year to visit the Blue Ridge Parkway. Visitors from around the world come to see the Blue Ridge light up in a blaze of autumn leaves.

The Blue Ridge Parkway winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains at a range of elevations. Some parts of the parkway begin at 650 feet, while other parts of the parkway tower at over 6,000 feet! The winding of the road allows you to see both the  east and west facing slopes.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is designed as a slow paced and relaxing drive. The maximum speed limit is 45 miles per hour. In more populated sections of the highway, speeds are as low as  25 miles per hour.
