Six Reasons to Visit Asheville North Carolina this Foliage Season

Asheville, North Carolina is one of the most sought after destinations during fall foliage season. I can say this because I recently visited the area on my foliage trip!

Drive to DuPont State Forest

I decided to plan my foliage trip to Asheville for many reasons, including:

  1. Asheville is located in the heart of the Blue Ridge mountains, a prime location for leaf peeping
  2. The city hosts weekly fall festivals (September-November) ranging from bonsai shows to cinema festivals
  3. Asheville is very pet friendly, I booked a pet friendly cabin!
  4. Asheville, NC offers a range of scenic drives including the blue ridge parkway, US Highway 64, Forest Heritage National Scenic Byway
  5. Hiking is great all around Asheville, you can visit these local mountains: Black Mountain, Town Mountain, Elk Mountain
  6. The Biltmore Estate is a National Historic Landmark (America’s largest home) located in Asheville

Asheville is home to a great variety of experiences that you can enjoy during the autumn weather. Here are a few things I experienced while in Asheville:

  • The Biltmore Estate
  • Horseback Riding
  • DuPont State Forest
    • Waterfalls
  • Bonsai Gardens
  • The Blue Ridge Parkway

At Foliage.org we conduct a range of interviews with local visitor bureaus. One resource that helped me plan my Asheville, NC foliage trip was our interview with the Asheville’s CVB.
